			Der rumänische Künstler “yvat” setzt mit seiner Veröffentlichung “Red” deutliche Akzente in der Szene für elektronische Musik. Die 12 Tracks der Veröffentlichung „Red“ überzeugen mit Innovation, dem unbedingten Drang neue Sound-Sphären zu ergründen und dem noch jungen Genre „Electronica“ neue Impulse einzuhauchen. Clever arrangierte Soundflächen und Beats, gepaart mit geerdeter Melancholie, respektive unerklärlicher Schwermut, ziehen sich durch alle Tracks, die sich wie eine mit Lack überzogene Blüte versuchen ihrer Bestimmung nach zu kommen. Eine durchweg überzeugende Attitüde, wie auch die Originalität und Authentizität auf die der Künstler „yvat“ großen Wert legt. Einmal eingetaucht in das krude Sound-Universum „yvat“s, erkennt man mit unbeschwerter Leichtigkeit auch die sanften, harmonischen Klänge, ja zerbrechlichen Aspekte seiner Musik. ________ Artist’s specific well crafted sounds and textures are easy to recognize within the album, constituting a strong, consistent and melodic atmosphere, specific to IDM, even if these are combined with hip hop influences. Far beyond the experience of listening itself, the album introduces its audience into yvat’s imaginary, appealing to his living style, objects and colours that govern his world and imaginative productions: white, grey and just a hue of red. The tracks are evolving into both, sensitive messages and authoritative meanings, oscillating between opposite states of mind and gestures as it is suggested by their titles. A maturity work, the album states a peak of artist’s career: polished sounds created by using exclusively analogue devices emerge from an underground level to a more commercial one, but still they preserve an extraordinary structure.		01. 			Subliminal Crush is a project that combines the stop motion animation made by Vasile Alboiu and music by Romanian sound artist 'yvat'. The project consists 5 video clips of stop motion animation made using clay, plastic, foam and other less ordinary stuff combined with electronic music. Each video has a different approach, both with regard to the music and the video part, but nevertheless the common feature unifying these is the fact that the music makes use of analog devices exclusively, rejecting any computer processing or sound, while the video is appealing at traditional ways in making video—as graphics and stop motion techniques—thus, both parts are much compliant with traditional ways of art, still embracing a genuine, newly and modern concept.  This mix between music and animation creates an exclusive artistic event and use of classic methods gives the distinctive touch of this particular project. Subliminal Crush is a narrative metaphoric structure presented like a succession of five chapters. Each chapter is a symbolic story about life, people, changing the rules, history and politics. The material examines in fascinating scenes mentalities and precognitions, occidental rationalism, resulting a succession of stories passing from dark and visceral tones to angelic and transcendental images. Each of them has a powerful visual impact appealing by the techniques used—which are more closed by the films we’ve seen in our childhood—to our inner, native and un-perverted thinking. It is, after all, a Jungian journey in your imaginary. The artists are seeming to be preoccupied with the vulnerabilities of human life in modern society: mankind is seen like puppets dominated by inner vermiform creatures, their dreams are governed by wars, surgery is an allegory of manipulative politics and ready made ideas, human life is just a trap in the journey of souls and, in the end, a fake angel is awaked to life—a golem putting in discussion the issue of existence for non-created beans. As a bonus there is included a recording from a live performance where many of the images used for these videos appeared as a background projection. The concert was performed during the Romanian SIMULTAN festival, which took place in Timisoara, in May 2006. The unique approach of this performance consists in combining analog textures and sounds with melodic lines of marimba phone. The music, composed by 'yvat' was performed in a live show –and we must say, really spectacular—by the artist, helped by Romanian percussionist Adrian Tabacaru.  Still, this is not an unique approach for yvat’s music, which combines frequently melodic lines created with classic instruments as piano, violin or even classic opera voices and analog sounds and textures specific to electronic music.  The desperate need of our society to redefine progress is then compressed in the particular and oxymoronically combination of instruments and techniques: the present is emerging from the past and is strongly influenced by it. In order to illustrate the statement, the video combines digital photo and computer editing with animated finally crafted clay or plastic objects, while the audio composition combines in a live performance the classical sound of marimba-phone with analog electronic devices. The video offer us devastating statement of a kaleidoscopic world. On the strange movement of apparently ordinary objects or hand-made toys, there are surprised modern world concepts, mythological themes, moral and axiological dilemmas and political beliefs.  The peculiar link between clay animation and experimental behaves like an apparent disorder; but, in the end, it is combining in a symbiosis. yvat has released his first production, “Concert for Violin and Analog Orchestra”, on the label Experimental Seafood Records/ Birmingham, UK, 2004. The album received positive reviews and parts of it were played during John Peel’s Show and on Mixing It show broadcasted by BBC Radio 3.

A series of another 3 albums followed on the Analog Orchestra cycle, being released under the same label: “Analog Orchestra”, “yv1 – fill ins interlude” and “yv2 – mix live concert”.

Together with Justin Wiggan from “dotb” and “geography of nowhere”, a new project “robotii nu se pot ruga” (robots can´t pray) was found and four different releases appeared under this name: “Camera Comuna” (common chamber), “Light Aversion”, "weird white feathers fall all across the country’’ - produced also by Experimental Seafood Records, and “20th Century Fake Book” - produced by UAVTAPE U.K.

One of the tracks from “Camera Comuna”, namely “flori crescand, mere muscate” (flowers grown, apple bite) presented Experimental Seafood Records on the “Supersonic Treats From the City of Birmingham”, released by Capsule as an overview of their participation at SONAR, Barcelona/ ES in 2004.

Other three projects have been released under SubliminalTapeClub from Belgium “Geophone”, “Amusia” and “Blue Cones”. These are the results of a track change in yvat’s creative approach, by embracing more electronic tendencies.
A multimedia project, combining yvat’s characteristic sounds and raw videos, made by the Romanian art designers Alexe Popescu and Paul Dersidan, results through the two DVD´s  “yvat & cut raw videos” and “folium”, released by La Strada Music/ Romania.

A different approach, adding melodic hues to the former geometrical sound concluded to a new release “Cyma” on the label Cactus Island Recordings, U.K. The same label included one of yvat’s songs on the compilation “Brittle Behaviour”.
Another album released in 2006 is “Oar”, produced by Minor Label from Germany, an art project combining his music with animation films. The product has a powerful visual impact by using unconventional materials and packaging techniques. On the same label appeared a compilation including the track “Violet” of this production.

Mixing together Martine Viard’s astonishing voice from George Aperghis’s “Récitations” (1978) and yvat’s electronic textures, the release “Phonema” creates a well built acoustic experience. The album has been produced by La Strada Music/ Romania.

±G6PD Records from Israel produced “Chroma” in 2006, an album presenting a new approach, much compliant with technical and mechanical sound and complex textures emerging from modern electronic constructions.

The DVD “Subliminal Crush”, produced and released 2007 by patpong records/ Romania, is a project that combines the stop motion animation made by Vasile Alboiu aka Black Moon and the music of yvat. In everyday live, yvat is managing his own MediaSoundDesign company and implied himself in the sampling industry and collaborated with Power FX/ Sweden and Ueberschall Sample Service/  Germany.
